RALLY DUO ON A THREE SWANS HAT-TRICK

DRIVING his classic Mark I Escort, Andy Beaumont and navigator Mike Petch will be on a hat-trick when the Selby & District Motor Club host their 22nd annual Three Swans Rally this weekend.

Sponsored by TBM Cutters Ltd, the 110-mile navigational rally kicks off near York at midnight on Saturday and finishes for an early breakfast at Hirst Courtney around 5am.
And, yes, spectators do turn up even at these unearthly hours – those unfamiliar with the route should log onto the club website at www.selbydmc.org.uk
Organisers are also appealing for marshalls – phone Alistair Crosby on 0792 961 1582 if you can help.
The club, which has its own licensed clubhouse at Breighton airfield where it meets on alternate Thursdays, would also like to see a few more members. Details can be found on their website.
The event is a round of the ANCC (Association of Northern Car Clubs) Road Rally Championship and the Classic and Rally Services (CARS) ANEMMC (Association of North East Midlands Motor Clubs) Road Rally Championship.
For the first time it will include a category for historic vehicles and there will also be an award for the highest-placed finisher competing in a car complying with the new Endurance Rally specification.
The format has been designed to please expert, novice and standard car crews by using straightforward navigation and traditional Yorkshire roads.
